Beth Kettel

Beth Kettel works with a range of media including sculpture, costume, moving-image, text, print and performance. With an interest in language and meaning-making through all semiotic systems: linguistic, visual, aural, gestural and spatial usually creating multilayered installations and performance. Kettel explores translations between the psychological & physical experience, including perception, communication and the mental health of humans, plants & animals with their capacities to be emotionally disturbed. 

Recent solo exhibitions & commissions include: The Sound of Somebody Changing Their Mind, Phoenix; Baseline Drift, Art Night, London; A Bang…, Art & Screen Network, ICA, London; A Mutual Influence, Green Man Festival, Wales. Group exhibitions & performances include: GIBCA, Sweden; Jerwood Space, London; The Lowry, Salford; Cob Gallery, London; TACO, London; Two Queens, Leicester; Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham; Copperfield Gallery, London and Caustic Coastal, Manchester.

Residencies include Launchpad LaB, France 2023; Fieldwork, Wales 2023; Writer-In-Residence at Nottingham Contemporary 2022. Kettel was UK Associate at Delfina Foundation 2022 and NearNow Studio Fellow at Broadway Cinema 2024. 

Kettel has delivered talks and workshops around UK & Europe including: Goldsmiths University, London; NonSpace Aarhus, Denmark; University College London; Delfina Foundation, London; University of Arts, London; Bristol University of West England; Champagne-Mouton, France. Kettel was nominated for Kleinwort Hambros Emerging Artist Prize, 2021. Press includes: Artist to Watch, Contemporary Arts Society, Dazed Digital, Mousse Magazine, This Is Tomorrow.
