Iain Cockhill

Trustee

Iain became a trustee of Primary in 2020 and has taken a particular interest in the capital works and maintenance of the premises.

He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor after attending Nottingham Trent University. Initially working for Drivers Jonas, he worked in the development and asset management teams focusing on urban regeneration projects with Shaftesbury Plc at the Power Trocadero site and Chinatown in London. These successful schemes later formed the basis of mixed-use development studies as a means of city centre regeneration proposals.

Other clients operating more mature property investments included the Pollen Estate and Hammerson Plc’s Sicilian Avenue holdings.

In 1998, Iain took over a family construction business and moved to Lincolnshire where the business is based. The company specialises in conservation and modernisation projects on traditional and listed buildings employing a range of tradesmen and apprentices. The apprenticeship schemes they operate have been very successful and continue to develop traditional trade skills with young people in and around Lincoln.

Iain was a board member of St. Mary’s School in Lincoln and later the Minster School from 2006 to 2014. During this time, he helped with the merger of the two schools and was part of the team that oversaw the development of new school buildings and the refurbishment of existing listed premises in Lincoln’s historic cathedral quarter.
