Michael Marsden

Michael Marsden is currently the Executive Dean of Art & Design at Nottingham Trent University, a role that provides strategic leadership in teaching and research in art and design practice, in a school with 4,000 students at undergraduate, postgraduate, and research level. Prior to this appointment, he was Acting Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of Art, Design and Humanities at De Montfort University, Leicester.   

After graduating with a degree in Industrial Design and a Master’s degree in Design and Manufacture, Michael worked as an industrial design consultant in a range of industries and practises, with a particular interest in the relationship and interface between people and machines. As a senior academic, he has lectured in several countries, including at the world design expo, and published in the areas of arts educational spaces and knowledge transfer. He has led the development of several academic departments and in the creation of a £35m art and design capital building project at De Montfort University.
