Will Harvey

Trustee

Will Harvey is an artist & architectural designer situated in Nottingham. He is also a part-time tutor of architecture at the University of Nottingham and is a resident board member at Primary.

Will joined Primary in 2020 and has since felt welcomed by and committed to the creative community here, which offers a rich ecology of radical creative culture within the city and beyond. So far his contribution has been focussed on improving the sustainability of the organisation in a holistic way, from the fabric of the building to the way in which people use the space. He is a founding member of the environmental sub-commitee which aims to improve Primary’s organisational responsibility by helping to shape an ambitious and progressive environmental strategy, followed up by a realistic action plan.

He is a recent graduate of the masters in sustainable architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. His masters work was featured in Touchstone Magazine, as an exemplar project demonstrating an alternative reuse of large-scale 20th century energy infrastructure, a proposal showing a vision for a more hopeful and ecological future.

Together with his education, Will has over 3 years experience working nationally and internationally in architectural practice. Over this time he worked on projects which have helped him to develop the tools and experience necessary to help build healthy cultural and civic spaces.

In tandem with his work as an architectural designer Will is also exploring material reuse and circular economy thinking not only as an art / architectural research practice but also as a pragmatic way do face resource scarcity. He is currently working with various collaborators locally and nationally on various projects addressing this issue.
