Forth
Forth (previously Four/Four) is a gallery and event space located within the ground floor of the caretaker’s house at Primary. Founded in 2018 by Nottingham Trent University graduates, it was established to showcase emerging artists and present a programme highlighting practices that serve to activate space, through performance, installation, moving image and sound, and explore the way that artists react to the space through pre-exhibition mini-residencies. It is currently run by Nottingham-based curator and artist Adam Grainger, co-producer of whorling.net and studio manager at One Thoresby Street. Previously Four/Four, the space has in the past been run by Alice Reed, Ashley Hay, Alice Hunt, Chloë Laycock and Christos Gkenoudis.
Some highlights of Forth’s recent programme include; Tangible Nothings and Momentary Happenings, the first solo show by Emily Stollery; Untitled Score for Two Performers, a performance piece by collaborative duo Chatum Tanning; and We Might Never Reach You, a screening of Moving Image at Nottingham Contemporary facilitated by Kühle Wampe.
Since their inception, Forth have engaged in frequent collaborations with other organisations and individuals including: Pangaea Sculptors’ Centre, Kühle Wampe, UK New Artists, Beam Editions and Jade Foster.
