Jim Brouwer is an artist and AV Art consultant.
Jim specialises in interactive art, video, 16mm film, video editing, Max msp programming, and live streaming. He has developed a diverse working history and freelance consultation business.
As a technician and artist assistant, Jim has over 22 years’ experience working with artists, musicians, performers, and art galleries, installing and producing high level art works and live music events using digital and analogue audio engineering. Jim is also experienced in live Video mixing and streaming, 16mm Film screening, and installations.
Jim spends most of his time at Primary on his pottery wheel, making handmade ceramic tableware.
He has worked on tech set up and shows for arts festivals including Dance4’s NottDance (2012-15) and NEAT Festival (2014).
Jim Brouwer has had artist commissions with Lovebytes Festival, Sheffield; International Review of Live Arts, Glasgow; Leeds City Art Gallery; Opera North, Leeds; Hull Time Based Arts, Ferens Art Gallery, Hull; Broadway, Nottingham; Sonic Arts Network, Manchester; Bonington Art Gallery, Nottingham; Glade Electronic Music Festival; Shambhala Festival; PRS Foundation and Nottingham Light Night.
Prizes include: Shortlisted for the Grand Prize at Nottingham Castle Open 2012, Grand Prize Winner and The Peoples Panel Winner at Nottingham Castle Open 2014.
Jim has installed many of the AV installations in Primary over the years including: Rebecca Lennon, Jennifer Martin, Larry Achiampong, Hardeep Pandhal, Emma Smith, Parker Ito, Beth Collar, Alia Pathan, Emma Smith, and William Hunt.
He has worked with a tonne of artists on various projects including: Jarvis Cocker, Mark Leckey, Marvin Gaye, Tai Shani, Daniel Steegmann, and Mangrané.
Past freelance clients include: The Tate, Carroll Fletcher, Liverpool Biennial, Bloomberg New Contemporaries, Dance4, Red Earth, The National Trust, thisistomorrow, One Thoresby Street, New Art Exchange, BACKLIT, and Metal.
