Cabbage presents a film collage contextualising its creative work, a flavour of its style, aesthetic, and the artists that shape it, as well as the platform’s approach to methods of slow curation.
The film collage will be available to Kaleidoscope Network members to watch online from 19 - 25 July. This KN activity comes with an open invitation to contact Cabbage (Jenny Tipton) to have a conversation around approach or ideas arising from the work presented.
Cabbage is a nomadic artist-led platform for contemporary visual arts. Based in Glasgow, Cabbage programmes regular events and exhibitions throughout the year, as well as running an annual resilience programme for under-represented artists.
Cabbage works with the majority of its artists more than once, building a continued level of support and community. Creating a supportive and collaborative environment is vital for the platform, and there is an ongoing aim to test out different ways curation and event making can provide sustainable support for artists. Cabbage is committed to always paying artists, and prioritises platforming marginalised individuals within the arts.
Previous projects have been supported by Glasgow International, GoMA, David Dale Gallery & Studios, CCA, Seamore Neighbourhood Cinema, Queen's Park Railway Club and Creative Scotland.
Cabbage is run by artist and event-maker Jenny Tipton, and projects are the result of slow conversations and collaborations with other artists.
This event has been organised by Primary for the Kaleidoscope Network, a collaboration between Eastside Projects (Birmingham), Primary (Nottingham), Spike Island (Bristol), and The NewBridge Project (Newcastle). Primary residents and members are automatically part of the Kaleidoscope Network and can attend selected events programmed by each partner.
Please contact your relevant host art space to access the film collage; Primary residents and members can book by emailing colette@weareprimary.org.
