Climate Justice Riders for Creatives with Angela YT Chan

Where: Online, via Zoom
Booking:
Limited spaces, click here to book.

In this session Angela YT Chan will support us to develop a resource kit or ‘Climate Justice Rider’ for freelance artists and arts workers to extend to employers and institutions that they work with.

Often institutions programme climate themed events without transparent commitments or can fail to make available the necessary resources and budget to ensure activities are climate and socially responsible. This collective climate justice rider writing exercise will see participants develop a short document that freelancers can send to employers to encourage better practice without needing to write extensive emails to explain why and how climate issues are important. The document will work in a similar way to an Access Rider.

Access: This session will be held on Zoom. Otter.ai will be active for anyone wishing to use live transcript or closed captions functions. There will be a scheduled 5-minute break. Please get in touch with colette@weareprimary.org any other access needs in advance.

Bio: Angela YT Chan is an independent researcher, curator and artist. Her work reconfigures power in relation to the inequity of climate change, through self-archiving, rethinking geographies and speculative fiction. Since 2014, Angela has produced curatorial projects and workshops as Worm: art + ecology, collaborating with artists, activists and youth groups. She co-directs the London Science Fiction Research Community. Angela is also a research consultant, having worked in international climate and cultural policy and on climate and sustainability projects for major cultural institutions.
