Initiated by our Assistant Curator, Jade Foster, Skillshare: Bodywork is a free closed online event held for black communities only. The session will be led by Warrior Wellbeing, a black-led Nottingham-based organisation founded by Lisa Henry. Lisa will guide the group in stretches, twists, and breathing exercises to help you focus and clear your mind, by teaching you techniques that you can then use anytime at home.
We aim to create a space of rest and restoration to aid in collective survival, understanding that tension, trauma, and anxiety are held in the body. During times where we see pain and violence inflicted onto black bodies, we must come together to support and share strategies for both self and collective care to improve wellbeing. As an arts organisation, we have a commitment to anti-racist work, and we are actively thinking of how Primary is used as a resource and space for local communities.
Our regular Skillshares are opportunities to learn, meet new people, and discuss the resources and skills we can share in our communities. This event will take place via Zoom, and is being held for black communities only. If you are interested in taking part, please email jade(at)weareprimary.org for the meeting ID, and get in touch if you need any support.
