Social Practice Social: 'Experiments with...'

Social Practice Social is a monthly peer support group for artists, programmers, community organisers, activists, and others working with participation, collaboration, public space, or social change.

This month, join regular SPS member Charlotte Tupper for a practical art-making experiment! ‘Experiments with…’ is a work in progress that explores where, when and how we make art with others. Join us in this session to explore and discuss the role of the artist in participatory group sessions, through a series of practical activities.

This event will take place online via Zoom, and live captioning is available. Please register here to receive the meeting information.

Charlotte will lead us through a practical activity, and we’ll be using break-out rooms for small group conversations. Please join the session with the materials listed below. If you would like any materials sending out to you, please contact rebecca@weareprimary.org by 5 May. You can get in touch with Rebecca with any other questions or to discuss access requirements.

Charlotte Tupper is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in textiles. She is an Associate Artist with ‘Schools of Tomorrow’; a three-year in depth collaboration between Nottingham Contemporary and local city primary schools. ‘Schools of Tomorrow’ brings together children and families, teachers and artists as co-learners. Charlotte is leading on action-based research that aims for long term change across the whole school and its communities.  Remote delivery during lockdown presented a new enquiry based approach; one that considers factors that influence art making with participants and questions its autonomy.
