A playful, hands-on workshop with Georgina Barney from Plant Dye Studio to explore some of the remarkable uses of the Sumac tree.
We’ll experiment with Sumac’s dye potential upon natural fibres - including use of the tree’s berries, leaves and bark, inspired by the tree in Primary’s garden. Alongside the dyeing processes, we’ll share folklore and cultural traditions associated with the tree; learn ways it has been used as medicine; and enjoy a shared lunch featuring Sumac spice.
