In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Primary is working with Nottingham-based organisations to support our local community with Pay-It-Forward fresh food boxes. The Pay-It-Forward scheme has been running since April, with public donations made through NeighbourFood. Over the past few months we’ve been able to consistently provide locally sourced fresh food, including fruit, vegetables, bread, milk, and eggs, to Soul Food Café, Mojatu, and Himmah to supplement their existing food parcel schemes. These organisations are supporting people in the local community who have been hardest hit by the impact of COVID-19, with over 100 households receiving regular food parcels.

Primary is also pleased to announce that we’ve secured match funding for this scheme from one of our regular supporters, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, which enables us to double the weekly Pay-It-Forward donations.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Pay-It-Forward fresh food boxes scheme so far. You can help us continue to provide fresh food to those who need it by clicking the donate button below.

We’re also working with local schools, community groups, and artists to provide activity packs to families in the area, building on our Making Place programme. Jo Wheeler and Gina Mollett have developed art packs for Mellers Primary School, supported with funding from Paul Hamlyn Foundation, with over 400 packs going out so far. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be creating even more art packs for other schools and families in collaboration with Mojatu.

And finally, our Chimera Plantarium project zine, led by Chiara Dellerba, will be printed and distributed to the children involved in the project from Edna G Olds Academy. The zine will also be featured in Left Lion in September.
