You can watch the recorded version of this event below.
Join Primary curators in conversation with México born, and Los Angeles based artist Carmen Argote, discussing her expansive new solo exhibition, Be loved, encompassing video, sound, objects, and works on paper. The show is open at Primary from September 24 - December 11, 2021.
“I see the ‘Positive Affirmations’ as a virtual space to continue to be in process with the work and the exhibition. It’s interesting to note that the work in the gallery space was conversing with N Evergreen Ave 4 and with Primary’s building infrastructure / site. ‘Positive Affirmations’ is a way to continue the conversation now with ‘Be loved’, a place to continue to converse with the inner child from a different perspective.” - Carmen Argote
The online event will contribute to the unfolding library of audio and visual works as part of Positive Affirmations. We are inviting you to draw synergies between space and time; Los Angeles and Nottingham. Reflecting collectively on a layered process that has found transformation and metamorphosis through slowness both for the institution in response to COVID 19 and the artist. As an addition to this growing platform, the online event will include a special virtual gallery tour, and we have also made available the film featured within the exhibition. N Evergreen Ave 4 (2021) is a result of a hybrid and transnational collaboration, offline and online, with various collaborators based in the UK and LA. We encourage you to view and engage with the artwork ahead of the event.
