Supported by New Midland Group, Primary resident and experimental sound artist Tom Harris presents Listening Space - Deep Listening Room & Live Performance.
The event encourages Deep Listening Practices, purveyed by Musician and Scholar Pauline Oliveros. Tom invites audiences to explore their senses in a mindful environment, becoming conscious of the way we listen to and experience music and audio artwork.
Expect to enjoy a selection of audio works by Midlands-based artists, played on a Reel-to-Reel tape machine for a high quality and warm sound. All submitted works will be shared in the space between 10 – 5pm alongside an audio-visual installation by Emily Heaven. Visitors to Listening Space can enjoy other elements of Primary’s offer, including Bradley Coffee, Small Food Bakery and Beam, alongside Primary’s current exhibition, Be loved by artist Carmen Argote and Eleanor Bartlett.

Listening Space Open Call: Tom is looking for ambient, electronic, field recordings, sonic landscapes and works in progress, from Midlands based Artists include in the event. Tom wants to create a space for sound artists to test their ideas, and welcomes submissions of finished and unfinished works.
All submissions will be included during the day-long event along as they are within the genre of electronic, ambient, drone, noise sound recordings. Upload submissions to dropbox here. Please include ‘Artist name’ and ‘track name’ in the file.
