Our regular Skillshares are opportunities to learn, meet new people, and discuss the resources and skills we can share in our communities. All Skillshares will take place online until we’re able to meet in person again. These events are free and everyone is welcome.
Join Rasheeqa Ahmed and Michael Smythe for an introduction to the Mobile Apothecary project. Rasheeqa and Michael will take us on a virtual guided walk to identify wild plants growing in the city, and describe their medicinal properties. Following on from the walk, Rasheeqa will guide us through a simple medicine-making activity: making a herbal vinegar to support the immune system. Please register for the event to receive a list of ingredients you will need to make the remedy at home. These will be easily found kitchen ingredients. We can also provide recipe packs for anyone based in the NG7 area who can’t access the ingredients.
The Mobile Apothecary launched in 2019, a collaboration between Phytology, Rasheeqa Ahmad (aka Hedge Herbs) and a growing network of talented volunteers. The Mobile Apothecary supports underserved communities in the locality with good-quality, homegrown and communally-made herbal remedies. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they are increasing medicine-making capacity and developing a range of herbal medicines to support immunity and respiratory health.
