For the final commission in the Object Performance series, Sophie Jung has created a new installation comprising sculpture and video.
‘Things can be extinct in different ways. Out Thusly You peel and you peel and you peel Thusly Until you see all the sections in the nude. Your whole clan in shame as their highland dress inallowed on until later. And then you throw them across the ocan, separation whole. Al fresco Now you take a piece of clay Roll it into a lemon Thusly And stick your finger in. A cup is a vessel and yethalf a cup is not half a vessel it is no vessel at all. Think about it.’
Object Performance is a series of new commissions presented in collaboration with TG, combining residency and exhibition formats, alongside new performances. This programme aims to consider what an expanded form of sculpture might be today, where objects, images, text, performance and sound are interwoven. Each of these commissions explores the ways in which objects can be activated, whether as prop, performer or instrument, with the seven performances continuing to expand how we see, use and relate to the objects, things and materials in the world around us.
