Rewilding Christ Church Gardens | When This Tree Blossoms...

  • Christ Church Gardens Ilkeston Road Nottingham, England, NG7 3FZ United Kingdom (map)

Location: Christ Church Gardens, Ilkeston Road, NG7 3FZ
Free drop-in event.

Meet with the Future Machine and celebrate the blossoming cherry trees for the sixth year. For 2024 we are going to attempt to rewild Christ Church Gardens by asking you to bring along your own puppet creatures and cardboard plants made from recycled waste. All ages are welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.

From 2pm: Meet Future Machine and leave a message for the future.

3-4pm: Join us as we repopulate the place - bring along home-made plants and animals and fantastical ideas for the future rewilding of Christ Church Gardens, made from whatever rubbish you have at home. We finish with a grand group photo with Future Machine under the blossoming trees at 4pm. Refreshments will be provided.

When the Future Comes is a series of artist’s interventions, each witnessed by a mysterious and mystical device – the Future Machine. A newly formed ritual or special occasion will emerge as the Future Machine appears in Oxfordshire, Nottingham, Cumbria, Somerset and London every year - until 2050 the year that scientists predict will be a watershed for more extreme climate and environmental change.
