Join us for a day of work and play in Primary's Dye Garden. Help with some autumn garden maintenance, with a focus on harvesting madder root from the beds. Artist Georgina Barney will share a process for extracting colour from madder - a tradional dye plant that creates reds and oranges. We'll experiment to see how many different tones can be extracted from one plant. This practical session aims to connect you with the plants we are growing at Primary – from growing to harvest to use.
A lunch of soup and bread will be provided.
Limited places, please book here.
This activity will take place outdoors - please dress warmly and wear old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. The dyeing activity will take place under an outdoor shelter and there will be an indoor space to get tea and coffee throughout the day.
