Raju Rage | Recipes for Resistance Library


Reading Room – open Fridays and Saturdays, 11am-6pm (or by appointment) 

The Recipes for Resistance library features a collection of publications gathered by artist Raju Rage as part of their research exploring the politics of food and its relationship to migration, belonging, memory, culture, coloniality, gender, resilience, adaptability and resistance. The library was first shown as part of the Recipes for Resistance exhibition at Ort Gallery (May 2020 – June 2021) with a publication of the same name released alongside the exhibition. The publication – produced by Raju Rage – spans poetry, testimonies, articles, cross generational conversations, interviews, illustrations, photography and recipes. It includes contributions from Raisa Kabir, Sabba Khan, Queer Masala, Nandini Moitra, Zarina Muhammad, Raju Rage, YSK Prerana, Vijeta Kumar, Edible Archives and WAH! Womxn Artists of Colour.

The collection continues to grow and in its current form includes: Bad Form by The Food Issue, Prisoners Herbal by Nicole Rose and Ayurvedic Healing by David Frawley. The full collection list can be found here.

Raju Rage has a theirstory in activism, self and collective organised queer/ transgender/ people of colour movements and creative projects in London and beyond from which their politics and works draw on and from. They explore the spaces and relationships between dis/connected bodies, theory and practice, text and the body and aesthetics and the political substance. They are a member of Collective Creativity arts collective and are a creative educator with an interest in radical pedagogy. They have been trained as a pastry chef and baker and worked in countless community kitchens.
